Very predictable result in Fresnillo where third ranked Adelitas (9-3) defeated 10th ranked Plateras (2-8) 90-82 on Friday. They outrebounded Plateras 38-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was guard Tanaya Atkinson (183-1996, college: Temple) who scored 21 points. Guard Kristen Spolyar (178-1997, college: Butler) chipped in 16 points. Four Adelitas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Japreece Dean (168-1996, college: UCLA) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists and guard Khadija Brown-Haywood (180-1994, college: Arkansas St.) added 21 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Plateras' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Adelitas maintains third position with 9-3 record behind leader Libertadores. Plateras lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Abejas and Correcaminos. Adelitas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Plateras will play against Halcones (#7) in Xalapa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
