Regular Season Round 6: Freseras - Correcaminos 68-78

Rather expected game when 11th ranked Freseras (2-10) were defeated at home by ninth ranked Correcaminos (2-8) 78-68 on Friday. Correcaminos forced 19 Freseras turnovers. Strangely Freseras outrebounded Correcaminos 49-36 including 36 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Brittany Byrd (176-1997, college: UIC) who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import guard Jade Vega (165-1997, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Cuban center Yayma Boulet (193-1984) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and American guard Jaterra Bonds (170-1992, college: Florida) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Freseras' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Correcaminos moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Plateras and Abejas. Loser Freseras stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Correcaminos will meet at home league's second-placed Panteras in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Freseras will play against Rojas (#6) and hope to secure a win.
