Astros dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Caballeros de Culiacan's 36. Astros forced 22 Caballeros de Culiacan turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Caballeros de Culiacan's players. Astros brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was an exceptional evening for guard Shamorie Ponds (185-1998, college: St.John's) who led the winners and scored 23 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. Lagerald Vick (196-1997, college: Kansas) accounted for 13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Guard Teyvion Kirk (193-1999, college: UIC) came up with 29 points and 7 rebounds and forward Johnny Hughes III (203-1997, college: UIW) added 17 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Caballeros de Culiacan in the defeat. Five Astros and four Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
