Regular Season Round 1: Colon - Lagomar 96-62

Colon used a home court advantage and rolled over the opponent from Montevideo 96-62 on Friday night. Colon dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Lagomar's 30. Colon forced 23 Lagomar turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Jamal Bieniemy (196-1999, college: UTEP) nailed 32 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import power forward Quinterian McConico (203-1995, college: AAMU) accounted for 21 points and 13 rebounds. Four Colon players scored in double figures. Center Diego Tortajada (202-1993) came up with 7 points and 12 rebounds and American forward James Harrison (203-1996, college: ETSU) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Lagomar in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Colon will meet Sayago on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Lagomar's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Atenas.
