Very important is a road loss of third ranked Gigantes (17-17) against fourth ranked Cangrejeros (18-17) on Sunday night. Visiting Gigantes were defeated by Cangrejeros in a tough game in Santurce 86-90. Cangrejeros made 28-of-32 charity shots (87.5 percent) during the game, while Gigantes only scored twelve points from the stripe. They outrebounded Gigantes 41-30 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of DR Congolese guard Emmanuel Mudiay (196-1996) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and American forward Kenneth Faried (203-1989, college: Morehead St., agency: Shark Sports Management) who added 14 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international point guard Tremont Waters (180-1998, college: LSU, agency: Shark Sports Management) responded with 19 points and 8 assists and American Mike Scott (203-1988, college: Virginia) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gigantes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cangrejeros moved-up to third place which they share with defeated Gigantes. Gigantes at the other side keep the third position with 17 games lost. They share it with Arecibo. Cangrejeros will play against Capitanes (#3) in Arecibo in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gigantes will play on the road against the league's second-placed Mets in Guaynabo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
