Regular Season Round 40: Bayamon - Humacao 91-108

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Vaqueros (22-12) in Bayamon on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Grises (13-21) 108-91. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Vaqueros. Grises shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 62.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman James Ennis (201-1990, college: LBSU) who helped to win the game recording 26 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. The other American import point guard Travis Trice II (183-1993, college: Michigan St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 assists for the winners. The former international Javier Mojica (189-1984, college: CCSU) replied with 33 points (!!!) and the former international center Ismael Romero (205-1991) added 15 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Vaqueros. Five Grises and four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Grises moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Fajardo. Defending champion Vaqueros still keep top position with 12 games lost. Grises is looking forward to face higher ranked Indios (#4) in Mayaguez in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Vaqueros will play on the road against the league's leader Piratas in Quebradillas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
