Very important is a road loss of second ranked Mets (20-15) against fifth ranked Leones (15-19) on Monday night. Visiting Mets were defeated by Leones in Juana Diaz 96-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mets. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Leones made 7 blocks. The winners were led by American forward Jamil Wilson (201-1990, college: Marquette) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks and naturalized Nicaraguan swingman Jared Ruiz (188-1992) supported him with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Even a double-double of 20 points, 5 rebounds, 12 assists and 4 steals by the former international point guard Gary Browne (185-1993, college: WVU) did not help to save the game for Mets. Australian swingman Mitch Creek (196-1992) added 20 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Four Leones and five Mets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leones have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 15-19 record. Loser Mets keep the second place with 15 games lost. Leones will meet Cariduros (#5) in the next round. Mets will play against Gigantes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
