Regular Season Round 7: Halcones - Plateras 79-87

There was a minor upset in Xalapa where 7th ranked Halcones (6-8) were defeated by ninth ranked Plateras (3-9) 87-79 on Thursday. Plateras looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Khadija Brown-Haywood (180-1994, college: Arkansas St.) who led her team to a victory scoring 28 points and 6 rebounds. Her fellow American import swingman Jazmine Jones (183-1996, college: Louisville) helped adding 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American-Puerto Rican guard Brianna Jones (177-1997, college: Georgetown, agency: Shark Sports Management) responded with 18 points and Montenegrin power forward Kristina Rakovic (186-1994) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Plateras moved-up to eighth place. Loser Halcones keep the seventh position with eight games lost. Plateras will meet Abejas (#9) in the next round. Halcones will play against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria and hope to secure a win.
