Leader Libertadores recorded the twelfth victory on Thursday night. This time they beat 9th ranked Abejas (2-10) 67-60 in Leon. Libertadores made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. It was a great evening for forward Marie Benson (185-1997, college: UT Arlington) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Lyndra Weaver (185-1987, college: Virginia) helped adding 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side forward Zada Williams (188-1996, college: Florida) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Lasha Petree (183, college: Purdue) scored 13 points. Abejas' coach Carlos Gorosito tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Libertadores. They maintain first place with 12-2 record, which they share with Panteras. Abejas lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with Correcaminos. Libertadores will meet at home Fuerza Regia (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Abejas will play against Plateras and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
