Very predictable result in Ciudad Victoria where second ranked Panteras (12-2) outscored 9th ranked Correcaminos (2-10) 80-44 on Friday. Panteras made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Correcaminos turnovers and outrebounded them 40-17 including a 33-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Samantha Fuehring (191, college: Louisville) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. The former international guard Angela Rodriguez (173-1991, college: Milwaukee) helped adding 18 points and 5 assists. Five Panteras players scored in double figures. Panteras' coach felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American guard Jade Vega (165-1997, college: CS Fullerton) responded with 16 points and the other American import guard Brittany Byrd (176-1997, college: UIC) scored 13 points. Panteras keep a position of league leader, which they share with Libertadores. Correcaminos lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Abejas. Panteras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Correcaminos will play against Halcones (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
