Regular Season Round 7: Freseras - Rojas 79-93

Not a big story in a game in Irapuato where 11th ranked Freseras (2-12) were defeated by sixth ranked Rojas (7-5) 93-79 on Friday. Rojas dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Freseras' 38. They outrebounded Freseras 46-35 including 31 on the defensive glass. Rojas looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American forward Stasha Carey (188-1995, college: Rutgers, agency: Shark Sports Management) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Bosnian-American center Lynetta Kizer (193-1990, college: Maryland) helped adding 20 points and 8 rebounds. Four Rojas players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Caitlin Bickle (185-2000, college: Baylor) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Jaterra Bonds (170-1992, college: Florida) scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Freseras' coach let to play twelve players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rojas moved-up to fifth place. Loser Freseras stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Rojas will meet higher ranked Adelitas (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Freseras will play against Astros (#3) in Jalisco and hope to secure a win.
