Regular Season Round 7: Correcaminos - Panteras 74-90

There was no surprise in Ciudad Victoria where 9th ranked Correcaminos (2-10) were defeated by second ranked Panteras (12-2) 90-74 on Saturday. Panteras shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. It was a great evening for American forward Samantha Fuehring (191, college: Louisville) who led her team to a victory scoring 35 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). The former international guard Angela Rodriguez (173-1991, college: Milwaukee) helped adding 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Panteras players scored in double figures. Panteras' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American guard Brittany Byrd (176-1997, college: UIC) responded with 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Jade Vega (165-1997, college: CS Fullerton) scored 14 points. Panteras keep a position of league leader, which they share with Libertadores. Correcaminos lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Abejas. Panteras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Correcaminos will play against Halcones (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
