Regular Season Round 4: O.Mundial - Miramar 98-65
Date: June 19, 2023
There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Miramar (1-2) was smashed by thirteenth ranked O.Mundial (2-2) in Montevideo 98-65 on Monday. O.Mundial dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Miramar's 34. They outrebounded Miramar 50-30 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. O.Mundial looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by Brazilian center Pedro Ianguas (210-1998) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and guard Thomas Araujo (192-2004) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Four O.Mundial players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 23 points and 12 rebounds by Maximiliano Botta (194-1995) did not help to save the game for Miramar. Forward Andres Rodriguez (191-1992) added 13 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. O.Mundial moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Miramar dropped to the eleventh position with two games lost. They share it with Welcome and Capitol. O.Mundial's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Capitol.
