Regular Season Round 8: Libertadoras - Fuerza Regia 61-85

The most important game in the last round took place in Queretaro between second ranked Libertadores (12-4) and sixth ranked Fuerza Regia (8-6) on Wednesday night. Libertadores were crushed by Fuerza Regia at home 61-85. Fuerza Regia outrebounded Libertadores 41-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. American guard Destiny Pitts (178, college: Texas A&M) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points. Brazilian forward Damiris Dantas (191-1992) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. Fuerza Regia's coach Juan Jose Pidal felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Marie Benson (185-1997, college: UT Arlington) replied with 16 points and 8 rebounds and her fellow American import power forward Lyndra Weaver (185-1987, college: Virginia) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Libertadores. Fuerza Regia moved-up to fifth place. Libertadores at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. Fuerza Regia are looking forward to face higher ranked Adelitas (#4) in Chihuahua in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Libertadores will play on the road against the league's leader Panteras in Aguascalientes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
