Regular Season Round 12: Soles - Caneros 77-105
Date: June 24, 2023
There was no surprise in Santo Domingo where 6th ranked Soles (8-11) were crushed by third ranked Caneros (11-7) 105-77 on Saturday. Caneros dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Soles' 34. Worth to mention a great performance of center Luis Santos (203-1994, college: St.Louis) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and American forward Cornelius Hudson (200-1993, college: Wake Forest) who added 12 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was naturalized American Gerardo Suero (196-1989, college: Albany) with 13 points and 9 rebounds and forward Josue Salazar scored 16 points and 4 assists. Five Caneros and four Soles players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Caneros keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Soles lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 11 games lost. Caneros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Soles' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santo Domingo Leones.
