Regular Season Round 9: Halcones - Astros 78-69

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Xalapa where 4th placed Astros (12-4) were defeated by fifth ranked Halcones (9-9) 78-69 on Sunday. Halcones made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American-Nigerian forward Amy Okonkwo (188-1996, college: TCU) who scored 29 points and 5 rebounds. Montenegrin power forward Kristina Rakovic (186-1994) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Brooke McCarty-Williams (163-1995, college: Texas) who recorded 14 points and 7 assists and the other American import swingman Alexis Prince (188-1994, college: Baylor) added 18 points respectively. The victory was the third consecutive win for Halcones. Despite that victory Halcones went down to sixth position due to points difference. Loser Astros dropped to the third place with four games lost. Halcones will meet bottom-ranked Freseras (#11) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Astros will play against Plateras (#8) and hope to secure a win.
