Rather predictable result in Fresnillo where eighth ranked Plateras (7-9) edged 10th ranked Correcaminos (2-14) 78-75 on Sunday. Plateras dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Correcaminos' 30. They outrebounded Correcaminos 52-34 including a 41-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Plateras looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Plateras made 8 blocks. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. The best player for the winners was center Vionise Pierre-Louis (193-1995, college: Oklahoma) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Khadija Brown-Haywood (180-1994, college: Arkansas St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Plateras players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Jade Vega (165-1997, college: CS Fullerton) who recorded 25 points and 4 assists and guard Brittany Byrd (176-1997, college: UIC) added 20 points and 4 assists respectively. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Plateras. They maintain eighth place with 7-9 record. Correcaminos lost their seventh game in a row.
