The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Leones as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Leones defeated one of their biggest challengers Caneros in Santo Domingo 92-88. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Caneros. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American Nick Faust (198-1993, college: LBSU) notched 21 points to lead the effort and Diego Colon (192-2001) supported him with 20 points. Leones' coach Julio Duquela allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Cornelius Hudson (200-1993, college: Wake Forest) did not help to save the game for Caneros. Canadian Allan Griffin added 20 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Four Leones and five Caneros players scored in double figures. Leones have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Caneros at the other side dropped to the second place with eight games lost. They share the position with Indios.
