Regular Season Round 19: Pichincha - Leones 73-72

Seventh-ranked Leones (6-8) gave a tough game to first ranked Pichincha (11-4) on Saturday. Pichincha managed to secure only one-point victory 73-72. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leones. Strangely Leones outrebounded Pichincha 47-34 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Rene Calvo (193-1993) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international swingman Jose Perez (191-2000) helped adding 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. At the losing side the former international point guard Martin Ochoa (185-1994) responded with 8 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists and American swingman Spencer Collins (194-1993, college: Wofford) scored 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Leones players scored in double figures. Pichincha have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 11-4 record. Leones at the other side keep the seventh position with eight games lost. They share it with CAN Oruro.
