Regular Season Round 11: Sao Jose - Brasilia 88-56
Date: July 22, 2023
Very predictable result when eighth ranked Sao Jose (6-2) smashed at home 18th ranked Brasilia (2-6) 88-56 on Saturday. Sao Jose forced 21 Brasilia turnovers and outrebounded them 46-35 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Brasilia's players. The best player for the winners was Ecuadorian guard Pedro Infante (195-2001) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Gabriel Caldeira (185-2004) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 assists. Four Sao Jose players scored in double figures. Allan Brito (-2003) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and Emerson Lima (-2001) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sao Jose moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Brasilia lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Sao Paulo. Sao Jose will meet bottom-ranked Cerrado (#24) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Brasilia will play against Botafogo (#20) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
