Very expected game in Rio de Janeiro where 15th ranked Flamengo (4-6) was crushed by third ranked Minas (8-2) 81-50 on Tuesday. Minas dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Flamengo's 30. They outrebounded Flamengo 62-27 including a 25-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mali forward NTio Diarra (200-2002) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Forward Winicius Braga (205-2005) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Five Minas players scored in double figures. Point guard Matheus Leoni (187-2003) produced 12 points and 7 rebounds and Yan Marun (-2006) added 9 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Minas. Despite that victory Minas went down to fourth position due to points difference. Loser Flamengo dropped to the fourteenth place with six games lost. Minas will meet at home league's second-placed Pinheiros in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Flamengo will play against Brasilia (#20) and hope to secure a win.
