But Rivas were not able to use a home court advantage and were crushed by the opponent from 95-76. Tigres had a 36-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Jose Perez (-1999) who led the winners and scored 35 points (!!!) and 7 assists. Cuban Emmanuel Calderon (198-1998) accounted for 25 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Four Tigres players scored in double figures. Tigres' coach Darwin Veliz used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Kelvin Rivera (168-1996, college: RU Camden) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and Felix Ramos (-2003) added 22 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Rivas in the defeat. Tigres will play against Leon (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rivas will play against Brumas (#7) in Jinotega and hope to get finally their first victory.
