Rather predictable result in Matagalpa where UNI Basket (2-1) defeated Indigenas (0-3) 94-88. UNI Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Indigenas' 40. It was an exceptional evening for American-Puerto Rican guard Robert Nieves (186-1999, college: Graceland) who led the winners and scored 42 points (!!!) and 4 assists. American forward Jayson Brower (195-1996, college: John Jay) accounted for 32 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. UNI Basket's coach William Aguilar allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Canadian swingman Zekiah Owens (197-1998, college: AIC) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists and power forward Elgin Mejia (-2001) added 32 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Indigenas in the defeat. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
