Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: Olimpia and Atenas. Atenas were crushed at home by 21 points 81-102 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Olimpia dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Atenas' 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American center Ricardo Glenn (203-1990, college: USC Upstate, agency: Interperformances) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Agustin Mendez (180-2003) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side center Rogelio De Leon (205-1989) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Ignacio Gadnich (180-2001) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Five Olimpia and four Atenas players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Olimpia will meet at home Tabare in the next round. Atenas will play against Sayago and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
