Regular Season Round 9: Morovis - Santurce 75-61

The game between third ranked Cangrejeras (5-3) and seventh ranked Montaneras (3-7) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Cangrejeras were defeated by Montaneras in Morovis 61-75. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Cangrejeras. Montaneras dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Cangrejeras' 26. It was a good game for the former international point guard Pamela Rosado (165-1986) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 5 assists. American guard Chelsea Mitchell (175-1997, college: Morgan St.) contributed with 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. Four Montaneras players scored in double figures. Montaneras' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Mikayla Pivec (178-1997, college: Oregon St.) answered with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import center Akela Maize (196-1996, college: NC State) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Cangrejeras. Montaneras have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 3-7 record. Cangrejeras at the other side keep the third position with three games lost. They share it with Moca. Montaneras are looking forward to face higher ranked Pollitas (#6) in Isabela in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cangrejeras will play on the road against the league's second-placed Gigantes where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
