Second Stage Round 5: Tabare - Urunday 82-79

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Urunday (16-4) on the court of third ranked Tabare on Thursday night. Visitors were edged by Tabare 82-79. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Urunday. Forward Octavio Medina (195-1996) stepped up and scored 28 points for the winners and point guard Martin Perdomo (178-1995) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Tabare's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American Tyrone Lee (203-1990, college: GVSU) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import swingman Anthony Hilliard (195-1986, college: ECSU) scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Tabare maintains third place with 13-7 record having just two point less than leader Urunday. Urunday at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Tabare are looking forward to face Larranaga (#7) in Montevideo in the next round. Urunday's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Olimpia.
