Bottom-ranked Rivas (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 89-56 loss to third ranked Real Esteli (5-2) in . But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Real Esteli forced 21 Rivas turnovers and outrebounded them 48-28 including a 33-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Rivas' players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Jensen Campbell (198-1998) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 7 rebounds. American-Puerto Rican Christopher Gaston (201-1989, college: Fordham) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Real Esteli's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Felix Ramos (-2003) replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Kender Ibarra added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Rivas. Real Esteli moved-up to second place, which they share with Leon. Rivas at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost.
