Second Stage Round 6: Lagomar - 25 de Agosto 77-91
Date: September 1, 2023
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montevideo: 25 de Agosto (#10) and Lagomar (#14). Lagomar was defeated at home 77-91 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. 25 de Agosto looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American Tirrell Brown (198-1993, college: OBU) scored 28 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Desmond Holloway (194-1990, college: Coastal, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. Four 25 de Agosto players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Venezuelan Carlos Milano (198-1985) with 8 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Federico Haller (200-1988) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. 25 de Agosto (11-10) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain tenth position. Loser Lagomar dropped to the fifteenth place with 15 games lost. 25 de Agosto will meet at home Colon (#12) in the next round. Lagomar's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Verdirrojo.
