Regular Season Round 3: Abejas - Correcaminos 93-71

Not a big story in a game in Guanajuato where Correcaminos (1-5) were rolled over by Abejas (4-2) 93-71 on Friday. Abejas dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Correcaminos' 26. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Correcaminos' players. The best player for the winners was American Markeith Cummings (198-1988, college: KSU) who scored 23 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Cody Demps (193-1993, college: Sacramento St.) chipped in 10 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Antonio Daye Jr (185, college: Coastal, agency: Players Group) who recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Brazilian center Joao Franca (215-1998) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Four Abejas and five Correcaminos players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Abejas will meet Libertadores in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Correcaminos will play against Halcones UV Xalapa (#4) and hope to win that game.
