Very expected game in Managua where 9th ranked Tigres (1-8) were defeated by second ranked Leones (7-2) 92-83 on Saturday. Leones forced 22 Tigres turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Kaleb Hunter (193-1998, college: UNCG) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import guard Augustus Stone (193-1997, college: St.Thomas, FL) helped adding 31 points. Leones' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American power forward Lorenzo Martinez (203-1997, college: Southwestern, KS) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Jose Perez (-1999) scored 30 points and 5 assists. Four Tigres players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Leones. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Caribbean Coast and Leon. Tigres lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the ninth place with eight games lost. Leones' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Managua to the arena Caribbean Coast.
