Regular Season Round 11: Hatillo - Lares 76-62

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Lares (1-12) were defeated on the road by fifth ranked Hatillo (7-4) 76-62. Hatillo dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Lares' 26. They outrebounded Lares 47-32 including a 38-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Hatillo players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. The game was also dominated by American players. Forward Dariauna Lewis (185-2000, college: Syracuse, agency: Agency) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds. Guard Adrienne Godbold (180-1991, college: Illinois) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Godbold is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Hatillo's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Mykea Gray (163-1998, college: Miami, FL) answered with 22 points and forward DaNasia Hood (185, college: Texas St., agency: Shark Sports Management) added 7 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Lares. Hatillo moved-up to second place, which they share with Carolina. Lares at the other side stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Hatillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lares will play on the road against Montaneras (#7) in Morovis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
