Regular Season Round 11: Leon - Rivas 89-70

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Leon (7-2) smashed at home bottom-ranked Rivas (0-8) 89-70 on Tuesday. Leon forced 23 Rivas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Rivas' players. It was a great evening for the former international Walter Diaz (179-1989) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points. Dominican Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) helped adding 13 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Leon players scored in double figures. Leon's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Puerto Rican guard Eliel Gonzalez (188-1995, college: NC A&T) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds and Felix Ramos (-2003) scored 9 points and 12 rebounds. Leon keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Caribbean Coast and Leones. Rivas lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. Leon will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rivas will play against Indigenas (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
