Fourth-ranked Cangrejeras (6-5) were very close to win a game against first ranked Atenienses (11-1) in Manati on Wednesday. Atenienses managed to secure only three-point victory 75-72. However their fans expected easier game. Atenienses dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Cangrejeras' 26. Atenienses forced 19 Cangrejeras turnovers. It was a good game for American forward Shae Kelley (185-1991, college: Minnesota) who led her team to a victory with 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Kaela Hilaire (157-1998, college: Stony Brook) contributed with 18 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Atenienses players scored in double figures. American guard Mikayla Pivec (178-1997, college: Oregon St.) replied with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and international guard Brianna Jones (177-1997, college: Georgetown, agency: Shark Sports Management) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cangrejeras. Atenienses have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 11-1 record. Cangrejeras at the other side keep the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with Moca. Atenienses are looking forward to face league's second-placed Gigantes in Carolina in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cangrejeras will play against Hatillo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
