Rather predictable result in Managua where second ranked Leones (7-2) outscored 6th ranked UNI Basket (4-5) 107-81 on Thursday. Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Augustus Stone (193-1997, college: St.Thomas, FL) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import guard Kaleb Hunter (193-1998, college: UNCG) helped adding 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American-Puerto Rican guard Robert Nieves (186-1999, college: Graceland) responded with 28 points and 4 assists and American forward Jayson Brower (195-1996, college: John Jay) scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Leones. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Caribbean Coast and Leon. UNI Basket at the other side keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Leones' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Managua to the arena Caribbean Coast.
