Not a big story in a game in Managua where bottom-ranked Rivas (0-8) were outplayed by seventh ranked Jaguares (3-5) 120-78 on Thursday. Jaguares dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Rivas' 48. They outrebounded Rivas 55-41 including 35 on the offensive glass. Jaguares looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Jaguares made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for guard Kaleb Myers (-2004) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. Puerto Rican power forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (209-1990, college: UNLV) helped adding 14 points, 16 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 blocks. Five Jaguares players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican guard Eliel Gonzalez (188-1995, college: NC A&T) responded with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American Rashad Jackson (191, college: Portland) scored 11 points and 5 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Jaguares maintains seventh place with 3-5 record. Rivas lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost. Jaguares will meet higher ranked Real Esteli (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Rivas will play against Indigenas (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
