There was no surprise in Guadalajara where bottom-ranked Freseras (0-10) were defeated by second ranked Astros (8-2) 97-84 on Friday. Astros looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American-Argentinian Erik Thomas (195-1995, college: New Orleans) fired 22 points for the winners. American power forward Brooks De Bisschop (206-1998, college: NAU) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Astros' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Karim York (206, college: PVAMU) produced 23 points and his fellow American import Malik Dunbar (198-1996, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Freseras players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains second position with 8-2 record behind leader Libertadores, which they share with Halc.Xalapa. Loser Freseras still closes the standings with ten games lost. Astros will meet Panteras (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Freseras will play against Halcones Rojos (#5) and hope to get finally their first victory.
