Regular Season Round 4: Santa Ana - Chalchuapa 112-98

Santa Ana can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Chalchuapa (0-3) 112-98. Santa Ana players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Dominican forward Frankyn Batista (198-1999, college: Pace) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. American Eddie Tirado (-1989) contributed with 32 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Batista is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Naturalized Puerto Rican swingman Miguel Velez (185-1997, college: Hartnell JC) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and Puerto Rican point guard Ryann Mercado (182-1987, college: App State) added 40 points (!!!) in the effort for Chalchuapa. Four Chalchuapa players scored in double figures. Santa Ana (1-4) left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Santa Tecla. It was Chalchuapa's third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. Santa Ana will play against higher ranked Brujos (#3) in Izalco in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chalchuapa will play on the road against Santa Tecla (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
