Regular Season Round 12: Leon - Indigenas 78-77

Eighth-ranked Indigenas (2-8) were very close to win a game against second ranked Leon (8-2) on Tuesday. Leon managed to secure only one-point victory 78-77. However their fans expected much easier game. Leon outrebounded Indigenas 45-33 including a 21-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Dominican Xavier de la Rosa (196-1991) who saved his team from a defeat with 34 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Guard Deikel Sanchez (-1996) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Canadian swingman Zekiah Owens (197-1998, college: AIC) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists and American guard Chris Moten-Jackson (190-1989, college: LA Pierce JC) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Indigenas. Five Indigenas players scored in double figures. Leon keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Leones. Indigenas lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Rivas. Leon is looking forward to face Jaguares (#6) in Managua in the next round where they are favorite. Indigenas will play at home against the league's leader Leones and are hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
