Not a big story in a game when 4th placed Panteras (5-5) lost to second ranked Astros (8-2) in Aguascalientes 93-103 on Wednesday. Astros outrebounded Panteras 40-27 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 20 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Astros looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American forward Jordan Loveridge (198-1993, college: Utah) nailed 25 points and 7 assists for the winning side and American-Argentinian Erik Thomas (195-1995, college: New Orleans) accounted for 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Astros players scored in double figures. American point guard Jaron Martin (178-1995, college: UC Irvine) came up with 22 points and 7 assists and American-Puerto Rican forward Angel Matias (194-1992, college: Georgia South) added 16 points respectively for Panteras in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains second place with 8-2 record behind leader Libertadores, which they share with Halc.Xalapa. Loser Panteras dropped to the third position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Astros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Panteras will play against Halcones Rojos in Veracruz and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
