Regular Season Round 11: Tipitapa - Leonas 83-40

Very significant was Tipitapa's (#2, 8-4) victory against 4th placed Leonas (3-8) 83-40. Tipitapa held Leonas to an opponent 23.4 percent shooting from the field compared to 34.1 percent accuracy of the winners. Tipitapa forced 33 Leonas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Leonas' players. It was a great evening for the former international forward Shannen Peralta (-2003) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Canadian guard Tiffany Reynolds (175, college: Lakehead) helped adding 22 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. American forward Jessica Martino (175-2000, college: Delaware St.) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import guard Jocelyn Taylor (183-1997, college: SEMO) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tipitapa (8-4) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place having just one point less than leader Jaguares. Leonas at the other side keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Tipitapa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Leonas will play against Real Esteli (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
