Gimnasia used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Santa Fe 88-63 on Monday night. Gimnasia outrebounded Union SF 38-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Norberto Stucky (198-1994) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). American-Italian Brandon Nazione (202-1994, college: EMU) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Gimnasia players scored in double figures. American forward Elias Cave (201, college: Minot St.) produced 18 points and swingman Martin Gomez (197-1996) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Gimnasia will meet at home Comunicaciones in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Union SF will play against Platense in Florida and hope to win that game.
