Regular Season Round 1: Flamengo - Minas 70-87

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by Minas 87-70. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Flamengo's players. Argentinian guard Nicolas Copello (193-1992) stepped up and scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and forward Alexandre Paranhos (204-1992) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Minas' coach Leonardo Costa used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international guard Didi Louzada (195-1999) responded with 15 points and Argentinian point guard Franco Balbi (188-1989) scored 15 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Minas are looking forward to face Vasco da Gama in Rio de Janeiro in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Flamengo will have a break next round.
