Nacional used a home court advantage and edged the opponent from Montevideo 83-81 on Thursday night. Nacional made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game, while Trouville only scored seven points from the stripe. American guard Michael Smith (193-1995, college: CBU) stepped up and scored 31 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Eric Anderson (204-1993, college: New Haven) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Nacional's coach Alvaro Ponce used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side forward Nicolas Catala (196-1991) responded with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Santiago Fernandez (186-2000) scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists.
