There was a surprise result in Comodoro Rivadavia where ninth rankedGimnasia (7-7) smashed higher ranked Obras (7-3) 96-62 on Saturday. Gimnasia dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Obras ' 22. They outrebounded Obras 47-31 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gimnasia looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) fired 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import center Vaughn De (205-1988, college: Stillman) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. De Vaughn is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Franco Smaniotti (194-2000) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Pedro Barral (187-1994) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Gimnasia went down to tenth position due to points difference. Loser Obras dropped to the seventh place with three games lost.
