Important game to mention about took place in Mar del Plata. Eighteenth rankedPenarol (4-10) saved a 2-point victory at home edging higher ranked Gimnasia (7-8) 87-85 on Saturday evening. Strangely Gimnasia outrebounded Penarol 35-20 including 28 on the defensive glass. Point guard Joaquin Valinotti (185-1998) notched 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) supported him with 21 points. Even 24 points and 8 rebounds by American center Vaughn De (205-1988, college: Stillman) did not help to save the game for Gimnasia . His fellow American import guard Joshua Webster (190-1997, college: Missouri St.) added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gimnasia's coach Martin Villagran rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Penarol have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixteenth place. Gimnasia at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with eight games lost.
