Regular Season Round 3: Tipitapa - Hurricane 95-73

There was an upset in Managua where Hurricane (3-1) was crushed by Tipitapa (3-0) 95-73 on Saturday. Tipitapa dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Hurricane's 34 and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Hurricane 47-30 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Tipitapa looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for Alfredo Borge (188-1992) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international point guard Romario Ponce (180-1995) helped adding 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Tipitapa players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Yassir Cruz (-1999) with 21 points and Alexander Sandoval scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
