Regular Season Round 40: Independiente - Amancay 75-64

There was a minor upset in Santiago del Estero where 9th ranked Amancay (10-12) was defeated by eleventh ranked Independiente (11-13) 75-64 on Saturday. Ecuadorian forward Johu Castillo (199-1999) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Maximo Velez (181-1997) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Guard Juan Cognigni (192-1990) produced 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Wilfredo Alvarez added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Independiente moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Rivadavia. Newly promoted Amancay dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Ameghino. Independiente will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Amancay will play against Montmartre (#8) in Catamarca and hope to secure a win.
