Everything went according to plan when Rayos de Hermosillo edged on the road Frayles de Guasave 83-81 on Tuesday. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Sterling Manley (213-1998, college: UNC) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Jimond Ivey (196-1996, college: Akron) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Point guard David Sloan (183-1999, college: ETSU) produced 24 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and guard Michael Henry (198-1995, college: Buffalo St., agency: Haylett Sports) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Frayles players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo will meet Mazatlan on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Frayles de Guasave will play against Tijuana and hope to win that game.
