Very predictable result in Santiado del Estero where third rankedAmeghino (13-3) defeated 8th ranked Quimsa (5-10) 52-41 on Friday. Ameghino outrebounded Quimsa 50-28 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American swingman Nija Collier (183, college: Central Mo.) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. The former international center Natassja Kolff (188-2004) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Julieta Sienra (161-2003) produced 11 points and 4 assists and swingman Lorena Campos (171-1999) added 8 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Ameghino . They maintain third place with 13-3 record having just two points less than leader Ferro. Loser Quimsa keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Ameghino will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Quimsa will play against Montmartre (#9) in Catamarca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
