Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Montevideo:Penarol (#2) and Hebraica (#5). Penarol (20-6) crushed visiting Hebraica (15-10) by 25 points 99-74 . It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hebraica. Penarol made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-1988, college: Kentucky, agency: BIG) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Shaquille Johnson (191-1990, college: Marshall) accounted for 19 points and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winning side. American center Franklin Hassell (205-1988, college: ODU) came up with 16 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import swingman Jordan Williams (196-1992, college: N.Texas) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Hebraica in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Penarol maintains second place with 20-6 record behind leader Malvin. Defending champion Hebraica keeps the fifth position with ten games lost.
